I thought I should get off my hiney and share my Bacon Pecan Cheeseball Pumpkin recipe considering there’s less than a week to go before Halloween is upon us.
If you’re looking for an easy appetizer to have out, something a bit more sustainable than Halloween candy, then look no further than this Bacon Pecan Cheeseball turned pumpkin.
And honestly, this recipe and all its pumpkin cuteness extends to Thanksgiving as well because there’s really nothing about it that’s exclusive to Halloween. Just don’t put it on your beverage cart with your scary dog skeleton….nor the glitter spider.
Bacon Pecan Cheeseball Pumpkin
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 4-5 slices bacon (crisply cooked and crumbled)
- ½ bunch green onions (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 cup pecans (chopped)
- 1 bag pretzel sticks
- Beat the cream cheese in a mixing bowl until creamy and smooth. Add in the bacon, green onions, Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Using plastic wrap, form the cream cheese mixture into a ball, wrap completely and place into the refrigerator for about an hour to firm. Chop the pecans and place onto a single layer on a cookie sheet or large plate. Remove the plastic and roll the cheeseball in the pecans to completely cover. Place a single pretzel stick into the center of the cheeseball. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve- at least a couple of hours to allow the cream cheese to re-harden. Serve with assorted party crackers, or additional pretzel sticks and garnish with a bit of green for the pumpkin leaf.

If you find yourself really wanting to up the hostess with the mostess factor, I modified this same cheeseball recipe for these Handheld Mini Cheeseball Appetizers. A bit more time consuming, but they seriously steal the show everytime I’ve offered them. You’ll likely want to double the recipe, though depending on the size of your crowd.
On the years that we stick around for Halloween (yes, we are “those people” who sometimes turn out the lights and leave/hide), I’ll have something easy going in the crock pot like this Chili or Taco Soup and a couple of appetizers and wine for snacking while on the porch.
