Today’s 5 Step Spring Porch Makeover post has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, however, all opinions are my own. #LoveYourLawn #CollectiveBias
I am so excited for Spring, and it’s not necessarily because we’ve had a terrible Winter it’s just that I love everything that Spring represents. Everything becomes fresh and new. The flowers begin to bloom and the neighborhood goes from looking sort of dead and drab to colorful and fab!
I like to do my small part in adding some color to the neighborhood and I’ve been so very eager to freshen up my front porch. Our neighborhood porch decorating is very mixed. While some never really change out their porch decor, some change out each season. I’m a seasonal refresher! I change out my porch bench pillows no less than 5 times each year. I just love a freshened up look!
To get my porch refresh underway I broke things down into 5 easy steps.
No matter how pretty your porch, you need to first get your grass in your yard under control. Honestly, yard work is not my favorite thing to do. Fortunately for me, however, my husband enjoys doing it and every time someone compliments our landscaping, his ego gets a bit larger. I don’t mind though, because I do love a pretty yard!
Each Spring we spread the Scotts® Turf Builder® Bonus® S Southern Weed & Feed throughout the yard to help rid the lawn of any pesky weeds already lingering while thickening the grass to crowd out the ones thinking they can get through. The Southern brand of Scotts® Turf Builder® Bonus® S Southern Weed & Feed is only available in the southern states- Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North and South Carolina and Texas.
The great thing about the product is it’s not a one and done bag of weed and feed. Save whatever you don’t use during the initial application and apply any time you see any weeds growing!
Once you get your yard the food they need to welcome in the warmer temperatures, you’ll move onto adding some much needed color to your porch.
Put a bow on it!
This wreath is sort of my go to wreath if I’m going to hang a wreath on the door. For Christmas I had a large wreath hanging above my porch bench and nothing on the door. Since then, I’ve had this wreath up but with a simple tan burlap bow. I removed the tan bow and added this aqua burlap bow to liven things up a bit.
I matched it to my “hello” rug under the supervision of Stella & Murphy.
**I received a couple of emails from readers wanting to see more of my pups, so here you go!**
Spring to me means lots of colorful flowers in the flower pots! I grabbed a new planter to match my new aqua pillow and filled both my pots to the brim with petunias. Oh, how I love pink petunias on the porch!
Speaking of pillows, refreshen those too. It’s a super easy fix to add some color to the porch. Just ask any of my neighbors about my porch pillow obsession! I’m thinking of monogramming that white one before the season is over!
After all that hard work, you deserve something sweet and refreshing to drink. Whip up some Cherry Lemonade, kick your feet up, and marvel at your colorful new porch!
Toss a matching towel on your bar cart and your porch is all ready for an impromptu porch party!
